Hello Summer

As soon as daylight savings rolls around, Summer is suddenly afoot.

The lethargy and restlessness that plagued me towards the end of last week has lifted and the world is suddenly bright again. I'm looking forward to beachy afernoons and campfires at night. To getting my hands dirty in the garden all day and then diving into cold pool waters at twilight. To lying in the hammock while the squeak of the trampoline fills my ears. To plunging my feet into icy salt water.

Long drinks in the short of the day.

Cicada drones drifting on hot winds.

Days where nothing stirs, not even us.

The smell of earth when longed-for rain finally arrives.

Hello Summer. Hello.

What do you like most about Summer?

These pictures are gorgeous and you descibe summer so well. It's freezing here again, and I'm longing for those long warm days too. My favourite parts of summer are the spontaneous after school beach visits, fish n chips for dinner, and holidays when we pack up head down to the water and don't return til that cool breeze blows, then repeat the next day..x

I can almost smell the salt water as I read this, such beautiful photos. It's 35 here today with an amazing sea breeze, then tomorrow we're expecting a 10 degree drop and rain. Don't know when I'll ever get those Winter woolies packed away. xx

Gorgeous Bron! I love, love Summer. Here in Melb with the weather cool it seems only a distant dream right now. Summer is outdoor play, sand between our toes and sunshiny days xx

Your kids are so sweet!

I like balmy nights that end with lightning and rain storms. I like the smell of freshly cut hay. I like cold drinks with ice cubes clinking while sitting on the back deck with friends, swatting bugs and talking shit. I like our annual camping trip to Buchan with the extended family and friends (usually about 15-20 of us).

I think the thing I like best about summer is that people relax more and aren't as focussed on business and the busy-ness of life as a rule.

I would like Summer to arrive. I love Melbourne, but the weather could really really do with some improvement.

We had a little bit of summer weather during the holidays. It makes everything seem so much better, more relaxed and life slows down. Bring it on I say.
Beautiful photos, your children are stunning.

I too love summer and the arrival of daylight savings. Somehow life seems more carefree - less serious. I love everything about it.

I like everything that you described about summer...you described the season so well!

I think my favourite part is being able to wake up and put on a dress...just one thing.
Not the jumpers and jeans and boots and layers and layers and layers of winter.

Ice cream, sunshine, salt water breeze at the beach with fish and chips, beautiful summer dresses, sunkissed skin, strappy shoes, enjoying a cold Corona with lime at an afternoon bbq with friends, yummy summer salads... Oh my list could go on and on!

Yours babies are so beautiful. I love summer too. For me it's all about spending time outdoors with family and friends. Everyone seems so much more happy and relaxed in the warmer months.

I cant believe Perth people didnt vote in Daylight savings, sucks that we dont have it here. It really gives you more time outdoors and thats the best thing about summer those daylight hours to do more before bedtime!

I love your photos. I also love that I get to vicariously experience the excitement of the coming summer through my Aussie friends, while simultaneously enjoyed my own transition to Autumn!

I love daylight savings when it comes and I love it when it leaves as well :) I love long swims in the river, crystal floating days at the beach, a cold cider on a hot afternoon and brown berry skin :)

Look at those beautiful happy faces!
I wish summer would start to show itself more down here!
I love that sunshine brings so much joy. As soon as the sun comes out, the energy of everything is lifted. People at the shops are happier, everyone walks with a spring in their step. I love it. xx

Oh how I loathe winter... bring on the long days and heat waves and playing under the sprinkler (we can do that, we have bore water!) and too many zucs from the garden, and berry picking... and playing outside way past dinner time, and the hammock... oh the hammock.

Even though it is freezing here at the moment (top of 12 forecast here for today!) DLS is still making me happy... ah love summer... bring it on!
