Butterflies

Walking to school, first day back after the holidays.

"I've got butterflies in my tummy," says Maxi worriedly.

"That's because you're a bit nervous," I answer reassuringly. "The first day back can feel a little tricky sometimes."

"Nah," he says firmly, scuffing the worn toe of his shoe further into the grass. "It's because I swallowed a butterfly."

Happy last term in second grade, Maxi. Love your gorgeous ways.

Do you remember when I last freaked out about the state of Maxi's fingernails? Well, I wish I could do the same thing again, eeek! Just look at that boy-who-nobody-cares-for! The holidays do it to me every time...

What do you let slide in the holidays?

that's very funny! My little guys nails are just the same, instead of cutting them last night I made him stay in the bath longer to soak out the dirt..

We're still on school holidays here in Canberra. Loving the empty shops & playgrounds, glorious weather & so many free fun activities. Loving the break from the packing of school lunches & 2.5 hours i spend on school runs each day!! Really. Love Posie

Everything ... everything slides in the holidays, except clean sheets, lots to eat and lots of fun activities. And now, I'm suffering for it! x

Fingers schmingers! It's a sign that he's had fun exploring but I must admit I cringe at the sight of Sunny's at times! She's gotten used to me getting the nail file out and cleaning them... I think I'm inadvertently instilling a disorder in her though - she runs to me everytime she notices her dirty fingernails but it doesn't stop her from digging in the dirt!

Love the swallowing of the butterfly analogy!

P.S. We love hanging out in our Pj's just that little bit longer in the school holidays, if not all day long! :)

So sweet. My boys nails are the worst. He is always in the dirt but I wouldn't have it any other way

boys nails...oh the fun. we tend to let haircuts slide and that's even more noticable than the nails!
