Now, according to Babble, the source of this free printable, these are called 'cootie catchers' in America. As far as I know, we don't even have cooties in Australia - I think it's actually glandular fever. For years after I first heard the expression (in Grease, of course!) I thought 'cooties' were nits.
I've always known these cootie catchers as 'chatterboxes', although a friend calls it a 'fortune teller'. Either way, print one out and have some fun!

When did you first hear the term 'cooties'?

I thought 'cooties' were just germs..as in boy germs or girl germs!
I thought they were bugs/lice too!
I thought that cooties were lice as well!!!
Ha ha...I love your Pinterest posts!
I guess because so many of the pins originate in the States they always remind me of back home!
So, why are they called cootie catchers???? Weird!
First heard of cooties from The Brady Bunch....of course.
Really, cooties are not nits??
Love the name! cooties were nits when I was in primary school, and you definitely didn't want to catch them.
Cooties - anything germy kind of things you can get from others, according to me!
I always think herpes though...
Yup. Cooties are boy germs. (or if you're a boy - girl germs) but I also think of cooties as nits.
Majority wins! yay.
