Pin of the Day: Lunchbox loving

Sometimes I wonder if there is anyone in the world doing something cool and not actually blogging about it. A family decided to cut out processed food from their lives over the course of 100 days and (of course) they blogged about it at 100 Days of Real Food. It's a really good site with meal plans, recipes and great snack ideas.

I pinned the 'school lunch roundup' page because it's full of cute ideas for lunchboxes that don't involve (too many) cookie cutters. Have you seen some of the 'bento box' lunches around the blogiverse? Seriously, who has the time to make sandwiches look like panda bears and cut watermelon into flowers? Not me! Seeing those bento boxes just brings on another one of those 'my children are clearly missing out getting a lazy mum like me' moments. But I could see myself stringing some fruit and sandwiches on a kebab stick for the kids' first day back at school tomorrow.

Visit 100 Days of Real Food or click on the image to see the pin!

Would you, could you, do you bento?

Those kebab sticks would make some awesome post-lunch weapons!

As a teacher, can I just say paddlepop sticks are much safer for fruit kebabs?! I wish I was more inspired with my own kids lunch boxes... we are a bread-free household so we do a lot of cut up fruits and vege, I'm too lazy to make it look all pretty though

There's no bento in this house. Maybe a vegemite sandwhich cut into a christmas tree? I could probably manage that! Lunchbox snacks are always a dilemna for us, and I got tired of paying so much $$$ for meusli bars full of nasties, so now I bake muffins. Lots of them, like 3 dozen, freeze them and hey presto, they get taken out of the freezer, thrown in the lunchbox and done.

Bento? I like to look, but no way are my kids getting that served up.

When I first went back to work I bento'd for my 2 toddlers day care lunch but the little buggers didn't like it, the other kids had sandwiches, chips and yoghurt and my boys thought they were getting ripped off!

My son wants to buy school lunch, I would love it if I could pack a more healthy lunch.
