52 Weeks of Grateful: Fresh starts

Have you seen Grateful's new home at Village Voices? I just love it. It's less cluttered and more like my blog. I feel very comfy there and hope you all will too. The conversations are fun and it's making me think that I need a new commenting system here on Maxabella loves... Hmmm... any suggestions?

Now, the Wordpress platform that Village Voices uses doesn't show our linky list, but it does support it, so you can click through and link up from there if you prefer. The Grateful post and list will go live on Village Voices on Fridays at 10am. So, a new day and time. I'll still be doing my own post here at 9pm on Fridays and I hope you'll join me each week for some grateful loving.

So, this week I'm grateful for...

233. Fresh starts - I've enjoyed being Grateful with Kidspot so far this year and Village Voices is hopefully going to take it to a whole new level.

234. Feedback - The shit hit the proverbial for a couple of our blogging buddies this week. Regardless of what you thought of 'the article' and 'the aftermath', I think we can agree that one of the great things about blogging is the instant feedback. I actually encourage all kinds of feedback - positive, negative or even the 'mehs'. Rather than the 'vote with your feet' mentality, I'd rather hear what people really think. It's important to hear it, I think it gives proper perspective.

235. Verbosity - Tagging on with this and further to point 233 above*, I'd be grateful for your feedback and suggestions on how we can grow this little community of ours. What do we need to do to make it even better?

Yep, we're positively glowing with beige over at Kidspot this week...
and, er, discussing the merits of Hogs Bristle. Come say 'hi'!

Do join our beautiful Grateful community by adding your post to the list below (please add a link back to our list here or at Kidspot). Stop by and visit as many of the links as you can - it's a lovely way to spend some time. Happy week to you! x

* You can imagine how appalling my Uni essays were!

I agree re the feedback - really is one of the great things! And love village voices - much more vibrant and light, shame about the linkys not showing underneath tho.

Suggestion for growing the grateful thingy - maybe create an official tag to use for sharing grateful posts on twitter or instagram?? Could that work/help?? First thing that popped into my head :) Elisa xx

Oh I missed the "article" and the "aftermath" both... what did I miss???
I am so "meh" about the Blogger commenting system, but I've tried changing and it actually seemed to dry up my comments overnight.
I think intense debate is better than Disqus though - it looks nicer and seems to remember you without having to sign up>

Lovely gratefuls Bron. I use disqus but I did something to my profile and lost all my comments :( And can't find them. I should have left well enough alone

Hi there Bron, will enjoy a look around over the day in-between having a half dozen youngsters charging around.

Must say that the design over at Kidspot is really not good and I am looking forward to changes there. It just doesn't look or feel accessible and having to log in to comment is a pain.

I've never heard of Village Voices - so much to learn!

Will try to write a grateful today as would be good for me.

Duh!! Just had a look and it's on Kidspot, and looking MUCH better. Delightful in fact.

Wonder if I will get a grip at all today?? Maybe not, but a slow dopey day sounds ok.

I really love the new look of grateful over at the village voices part of kidspot too. I'm all for helping to grow this wonderful community and am trying to think of ideas for you. I agree in that maybe an official hashtag for twitter and instagram could be good - and encourage people to share little grateful moments as they happen not just for the link up, but at the same time bring awareness of the community and the link-up. In the same vein maybe you could also open a Facebook group where members could leave a short reason they are grateful at any time? Maybe that's not what you are looking for at all? Other than that I'm sure that those of us who like a little social media are happy to bring Grateful to the attention of our Facebook friends and twitter followers. It's great being able to share my gratitude with such a lovely bunch of people, and I am happy to encourage others to share their gratitude also.

Fresh start is always so uplifting and so inspiring. Sometimes a little scary as well, but this is all part of the journey.

In terms of growing the community, i think it is al about encouraging the gratitude act and paying attention to what we are grateful for. Maybe a collaboration of bloggers or followers to start talking, discussing, linking, sharing....

hope you are having a lovely weekend

xx

I love that kids pot now has a village voice. Was that your idea? Love it! I missed the big event in blogging land, I just hope that bloggers are still in tact. Hugs to you! Xx

Ohh, I love feedback! I used to dread negative comments, but after writing my dissertation, I realised the negative comments are actually called constructive feedback! We've been buddies ever since!!!

Fresh starts...love them!!!

Have a great weekend!!! xx

Love the new home at Village Voices. It feels right. I am sorry I fell off the bandwagon ages ago in keeping up. In fact, I've struggled to keep up lately in general. I want to blog but it's not as important as ensuring my family is ok first. Anyway, I digress. I agree with the few suggestions above about a standard hashtag for Instagram and Twitter. The facebook grateful idea sounds good too though not sure how you'd quarantine that one from getting mixed in amongst the rest of your feed (unless you don't mind). I have no idea how to do this, but I know at least two other bloggers/artists focusing on the grateful idea (http://loriportka.com/a-hundred-thank-yous/ and http://365grateful.com/). Maybe somehow profiling their work or interviewing them or such. I don't know. No real clue how or if it'd work.

I always read the grateful posts too. I think the feedback is always a good thing to have. I don't always comment, but when I do, I try to be honest and to get the tone right with what I say. Sometimes that is hard and can come across the wrong way. But I try.

I am grateful for so many wonderful blogs to read.

Totally get you. No 234 - I agree! Say something, don't be passive. It's like that saying, 'every vote counts'.

Good to hear you're still going to do your own grateful post! And lovely to know the linky's being looked after at its new home :) So important! x

I love feedback too, good, bad or otherwise. I'd rather know what people are thinking than wonder (constantly).
