The Tsunamis have a gigantic trampoline parked right next to my favourite spot in the world. I sit on my front verandah with a view over the valley and listen to their squeals of joy as they bounce and leap and "look at me, mummy" for hours on end.
There is something so right about children playing so joyously, wearing themselves ragged with the sheer hard work of having fun. The pleasure of watching them is supremely addictive.
Last night I went on the trampoline myself.
In my head I was leaping with merry abandon, at one with the air. I jumped, I bounced, I cavorted. The odd backflip was performed.
The reality was... different. I didn't cavort much at all. Unable to leap even small buildings in a single, half-hearted push, my spring had definitely sprung. It was the equivalent of a Boeing 747 trying to take off in a wind tunnel.
I've lost my bounce.
Is this what happens as we get older (and fatter... let's not forget the fatter!)? Sheesh.
Do you still bounce or do you feel grounded these days too?

On Tuesday morning Captain V made us all one of his amazing fresh fruit juices.
Afterwards, I found that I was not only bouncing around the house but at one stage did a ninja-esque karate kick [or so I would like to think].
I felt happy, light and full of verve [all three things together being a bit of a novelty] and although I don't think it was just Captain V's juice, it had something to do with it....perhaps the extra ginger gave me a little extra zingy-zing, who knows?!?
It was great to read about your trampolining exploits, there should be more of it + swinging, blowing bubbles, running in the rain...the simple pleasures that we call all experience if we want to 'lighten our load'.

I jumped on a friend's trampoline not long ago and I remember thinking, Was it this hard when I was younger? Man, they are good exercise. And yes, things don't stay where they use to either! And backflips? In my head too!
Is it OK to admit I'm scared of jumping on a trampoline?!? For some reason, I wonder how I used to do it as a kid, now I'm just worried about falling off.
This is clearly the moment when I need to realise that I have become too serious!
At least you didn't wet yourself. That's what happened to me last time I went on one. Yup. Sure, I was pregnant at the time and had NO business jumping on a trampoline with Daisy but I will say this: never again. Well not without a tena lady in place!
I have this image in my mind... I still bounce. Infrequently and with less abandon than in days of yore, but I give it a crack. Keep bouncing. It gets easier the more you do it.
wine can cure your bouncelessness. Try it again on half a bottle of Pinot and let me know how it went.
Baby Mac's experience combined with Glen's suggestion = hysterics. Can't you just see me!?!?!?
I have ventured on to the trampoline with the boys and it is a lot harder once you get older! Im sticking to just jumping up and down, no tricks or backflips! xx
I'm heading overseas tomorrow to find my bounce again!!
Hope you manage to find yours!

I think I find my bounce elsewhere these days. Does that make sense? I like finding my thrills through a good run or some foot reflexology. Also I am terrified I might break my arm. I saw way too many of those injuries growing up.
Tramps are not for the light-hearted are they? I bounce. Some bits of me more than others but I still got it baby. :)
I think I'd be too chicken to even try bouncing these days. Sounds like fun though!
I was challenged this morning to get on our tramp and have bounce. Good for the muffin top and good for the spirits!
definitely grounded. I can't even flip over the monkey bars anymore...it's depressing.
Firstly....are you in my head? I was just thinking today how great our new trampoline is, and how I love sitting in the yard watching the kids bounce on it, and how I might blog about it....!!!!
Anyhooo...I tried bouncing on it a couple of weeks ago and the following happened:
1. I suddenly needed to wee (damn pelvic floor muscles); and
2. My neck HURT!
I then went of and tweeted, "Women over 40 should *not* bounce on trampolines. #JustSayin"
:)
I so want my girls to have a trampoline and I admit there have been a few day dreams of getting on myself for a lovely jump.
I don't remember the last time I went on one, though. I did go on a jumping castle at the begining of last year and BOY was the difficult!! I was so exhausted and once I fell down, I stayed down!
Definitely grounded. But I still do like going very high on a swing.
BOUNCE!? I'd be lucky if I didn't die due to bosom asphyxiation....
Nope. The last time i went on a trampoline i think i was 20? And it KILLED me. I've avoided them since. Lol.
Definitely grounded. It sounds like so much fun though, I have the odd swing sometimes but the seats are just a bit uncomfortable these days since the bottom has grown;)xo
*phew* let me first just say that I was scared to really comment the truth, but seeing as quite a few peeps already have here goes;
I love a good bounce - had a trampoline as a kid and was always bouncing!
kids have a trampoline and when i finally assembled it, i celebrated with an almighty jump myself! well i felt like my uterus, digestive system, and guts were all going to fall out the birth canal and yes - i wee'd! thats what you get for having a 10 pd and 8 pd 7oz babies! Now, i just lay on it when the sun is shining! makes for an awesome hammock!
happy bouncing!
So much fun!
I'd like to think that I would bounce, but I may need a few cocktails to loosen up first.
Oh yes we have a trampoline too, my children live on it! It's so much fun, in fact I might start jumping on it daily, might help to tone my big belly. An activity that makes it jiggly so much sound be good for it lol.
I had a bounce the other day with my 7 year old boy. He'd been pestering me for ages as I haven't been able to join him this last year as I was busy growing him a little sister. It was fun! And I think it could be good for the re-toning of a pregnancy shattered body - it certainly felt that way.
I have an extreme fear of what Mira experienced.
I'm also grounded by my pelvic floor, especially because I carried twins ...can't do the maths but 5kgs of them and the rest of the goop that goes with two bubs.
I have the odd bounce on our trampoline but my (.)(.)'s also flap too much and it hurts.
I might give it a try again since I need a good laugh if the kids will let me on it alone... maybe at night.
Though the neighbours might get very p*ssed off with me before I p e myself.
Just drink some alcahol then you will be like a child again ;)
